Fenox Venture Capital announces investment into Kii, an established mobile backend-as-a-service (MBaaS) platform that suits the software development needs of businesses ranging from startups to multi-national enterprises. Kii’s current customers include enterprises such as LinkedIn, NTT Docomo, Softbank and HTC. Kii has raised $7.3M to date and currently has offices in North America, China, and Japan. The funding and expertise from Fenox will help Kii grow their global presence including an imminent expansion into Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Kii provides mobile developers a complete solution to add backend functionality like user management, data management, push notifications etc. without the burden of having to develop, manage or operate servers. In addition, app analytics and integration with ad-based monetization networks is provided, allowing developers to focus on product features and user experience. One of the key differentiators of Kii is its distribution service to emerging markets such as China, through which application developers could access large smartphone markets. Kii’s distribution solution includes cloud hosting in China, translation service, publication of applications to local mobile application market, payment service and advertisement integration. Startups relying on quick time-to-market and rapid product iteration will find Kii’s MBaaS to be an essential service.
“The global outlook of Kii makes them a great match for Fenox’s international network. Kii will be sure to grow rapidly with their entry into new markets like the Southeast Asia,” said Anis Uzzaman, General Partner at Fenox VC. “Our team and I are very pleased to be partnering with Kii in their endeavor.”
“We have considered numerous VCs and selected Fenox as the best strategic partner who could help us achieve our goal of global expansion,” said Masanari Arai, CEO of Kii. “Anis and his team have a unique understanding of the Asian culture which in tandem with their global network makes them a huge asset to our team.
Kii will expand in the near future into Southeast Asia, which will provide access to a burgeoning smartphone and app market, and also attract enterprise clients who wants to tap into these markets.
