Platform, Frameworks, and Solutions

Kii develops and operates three layers on the cloud: an IoT platform that serves as the foundation for a wide range of IoT solutions, solution frameworks for monitoring and controlling equipment, and complete solutions that Kii builds and operates itself.

Kii Tank Management is one of those solutions, built on the Kii Asset Monitoring Solution Framework and serving fuel wholesalers and convenience store operators across the United States.

What the Platform Does

The platform is designed to shorten the path from connected equipment to usable information.

• Automatic persistence and visualization — once equipment is connected to the cloud and its data format is defined, storage and visualization begin automatically. No pipeline needs to be built first.
• Analysis-driven alerts — thresholds and conditions evaluated against incoming data generate alerts without custom code.
• Operational dashboards — charts and views over the stored data, without a reporting stack to build first.
• APIs for end-user applications — the same data is available to customer-facing and field applications through documented APIs.
• Administrator and tenant management — separate capabilities for the overall system administrator and for individual tenant administrators, so a single deployment can serve many organizations while keeping each one’s data separate.
• Third-party data distribution — data and analysis results can be shared with third parties in a range of forms, supporting business-to-business use of the information a deployment produces.

Combining platform capabilities with a solution framework allows a broad range of equipment to be brought online in a very short time.

Solution Frameworks

Solution frameworks sit between the platform and a finished product. They carry the monitoring, control, and management patterns that a class of solutions has in common, so a deployment starts from working behavior rather than from an empty backend.

The Kii Asset Monitoring Solution Framework covers remote monitoring and management of distributed physical assets, and is the framework the Kii Tank Management product is built on.

Track Record and Operations

Kii has operated the platform since 2007. Millions of terminals and devices have connected to it, supporting services across healthcare devices, office services, industrial equipment, and consumer equipment.

The platform runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on cloud infrastructure in major regions, operated by Kii’s own engineering organization.
