ATG Compatibility
Kii Tank Management connects to the automatic tank gauge already at each site: Veeder-Root, Franklin Fueling and INCON, OPW and EECO System, and any gauge that implements the Veeder-Root command set, from early-1990s consoles to current hardware.
Kii Tank Management works with the automatic tank gauge (ATG) already installed at each site. Nothing has to be replaced: Kii reads the gauge through its standard command interface and brings inventory, deliveries, alarms, and compliance data from every site into a single platform.
Supported Gauges
Kii communicates with ATGs through the three Veeder-Root command sets used across the US market. The TLS-450 command set covers Veeder-Root’s current-generation consoles and their extended reports. The TLS-350 command set is the de facto industry standard, implemented by Veeder-Root consoles and by other manufacturers. The TLS-250 command set covers legacy consoles from the early 1990s onward.
| Gauge | Command set |
|---|---|
| Veeder-Root TLS-450 series | TLS-450 |
| Veeder-Root TLS-350 series | TLS-350 |
| Veeder-Root TLS-250 and early-1990s consoles | TLS-250 |
| Franklin Fueling Systems, including INCON consoles | Veeder-Root emulation |
| OPW, including legacy EECO System consoles | Veeder-Root compatible |
| Pneumercator TMS series | V300 / V200 compatibility modes |
| Other manufacturers | TLS-350 or TLS-250 |

What Kii Reads From the Gauge
- Inventory — volume, ullage, product temperature, and water level for every tank
- Deliveries — fill events with pre-fill and post-fill levels, and the net, temperature-compensated volume the gauge reports
- Alarms — active and cleared alarms, with their history
- Leak tests — pressure line, volumetric line, and in-tank leak test results
- Sensors — liquid, 2-Wire CL, and 3-Wire CL sensors in sumps and interstitial spaces
The data available depends on the gauge model and its installed sensors. Underground Tank Monitoring and Environmental Compliance describe how the platform uses it.
How Kii Connects
- Cellular gateway — the gateway connects to the gauge’s RS-232 serial port and reaches the Kii cloud over cellular, with no site network or IT involvement
- Over the customer’s network — for operators with established IT infrastructure, Kii connects directly to the gauges over the existing network, with no hardware at each site
Either way, the gauge is never exposed to the public internet, and the platform sends it only read-only requests from a fixed allowlist. How Kii protects site equipment →
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kii replace the existing tank gauge?
No. Kii connects to the automatic tank gauge already installed at the site and reads it through its standard command interface. The gauge continues to do its job at the site, and Kii brings its data from every site into one platform.
Does Kii work with older consoles?
Yes. Kii supports gauges from early-1990s consoles that use the TLS-250 command set through current-generation hardware.
Can Kii change the gauge's configuration?
No. The platform sends gauges only read-only requests from a fixed allowlist, and commands that would change a gauge’s setup are never sent.
Does the connection require the site network or IT staff?
Not with the cellular gateway, which connects to the gauge’s RS-232 serial port and installs in about 10 minutes without specialized training. Operators with established IT infrastructure can instead connect their gauges over their own network, with no hardware at each site.
Do above-ground tanks need a gauge?
No. Above-ground tanks are monitored with cellular sensors and need no automatic tank gauge. See Above-Ground Tank Monitoring.
Does Kii work with Pneumercator TMS consoles?
Pneumercator TMS consoles provide V300 and V200 compatibility modes for third-party systems, and Kii confirms compatibility for each installation. Send the console model and firmware version to the team to confirm it for a specific site.
My gauge is not listed. Can Kii connect to it?
Most automatic tank gauges in the United States implement one of the command sets Kii supports. Send the make and model to the team to confirm compatibility for a specific site.
